Indian Symbol

I worked on this piece on and off throughout the summer of 2001. In July my family and I visited a local Native American trading post called Standing Bear. It turns out that the proprietor is a dancer working with the powwows that I have been attending. He gave me permission to photograph him and his shop. The core images used in "Indian Symbol" came from this visit. Each time I revisited the piece I incorporated current images from that week. The cumulative effect was a subtle reflection of my summer's adventures.
